  Why Do JW Speakers and GB Members Sound So Robotic?

  Even the best speakers are given no leeway. We had one CO who was quite engaging until his first visit after the overlapping crap. He seemed to have lost his spark; I think because he realized what a predicament he was in.

  The best talks were the ones made up off outline, or the ones where a better off speaker just gave a traveligue of his last vacation.

  Remember Knorr? Running late giving facts about everything? He would "ask" if he should continue, and what else could you do but clap in agreement and wonder when he would shut up

  Should Voters Be Made To Prove They Are Eligible To Vote?

  i believe that just because someone shows up at the voting booth, it doesn’t automatically qualify them to be legitimate voters.

  i think it’s not unreasonable to provide proof that you are qualified..

  here you can register with a utility bill at the polling spot. no room there for fraud! Supposedly they check every signature against a master list; (oh sure). The original idea was for representatives of the people to govern, both their own electors, but also make reasonable dealings with the rest of the country, especiqlly monority groups. Now you have to vote for someone who will do the bidding of people in the background, or are some of the background people themselves.

  Good luck getting a politician to keep a promise if they even cannot find a way to obscure any real intent.

  I am waiting for the day someone finds out I am a registered skeptic.

  It made the JW.org web site finally. "approximately" 427 bros. evacuated, jeez they love their numbers. 2 dead, one with a "non jw" mother. And they had a special assembly and gave some talks for spiritual encouragement! One KH gone, one damaged

  They are organizing relief accortding to their site; probably all being provided by locals.

  If any of us "in" ones went on our own and took water, food, and stuff we would probably be censured for not following theocratic order.

  alright, so what is the deal with the thousands coming to the states right at election time seeking asylum?

  i'm not up on this, usually try not to be, but how can this not be manipulative?

  it's either manipulative in the size of the group and pressure that creates, or in where it started or who started this, etc.

  How about real open borders so we can go and buy ANY land in Mexico or wherever, not just the restricted lots, and be able to work there, too.

  30 million is peanuts for relief work. And most or all of it was donated (coerced) from fellow believers. I have never heard of any displaced family being put up in a hotel, just in the homes of some better off witness.

  Don't forget to make your check out to world wide work, not a specific disaster. Last charitable donations I made were to give money to a needy couple directly, and I took some of the funds from what would have been in the contribution box otherwise. Knew of the good they had done in the past so I figured it was only the pay it forward type of thing.

  I never contribute to anything but the local hall; they send enough on to the top from the cong account.

  not all these people coming in are lettuce pickers. I know a lot of the ones I know (and like on a one to one) make more money, have better trucks than I. And there is strong discrimination against those of us who do not speak Mexican in certain stores and restaurants. Used to be the farm labor came, did the job, and went back, then the stronger laws screwed that up, so they stayed. Legal residents can't go "home" for Chrustmas and still need a wage.

  How Effective Are Anti-JW Internet Sites?

  i think that once you get on the internet and you see evidence that shows jehovah’s witnesses do not have the real truth, it can jolt you.

  but i don’t think simply going on an internet site typically changes a person’s direction—even if the information is very damning toward the witnesses.

  i think it takes time to eventually get out.

  The WT just told us to get all our news from their site. If you look there is little news, and nothing about any of the scandals. So, since they said there were others, the logical thing is to look. Hence, Reddit's increase.

  I have heard witnesses tell people to look JW.com. LOL
